Car Parks and Parking
Cheshire East Council owns and operates a range of car parks and
parking places throughout the Borough.
It also has responsibility for enforcement of parking and
waiting restrictions on streets, mainly yellow line
restrictions.
There are also privately run off-street car parks – these are
not the responsibility of this Council. if you have a query
concerning these, please contact the company directly.
Our Role
The Parking Service will ensure that customers of the car parks
we manage comply with the terms and
conditions of use.
We are also responsible for ensuring safe and considerate
parking on street. Our Parking Wardens (now called Civil
Enforcement Officers or CEOs) will visit both car parks and waiting
restrictions on a rota basis with a frequency which
reflects the needs of each locality.
Car Parks
Charges are applied to the car parks we manage in order to
ensure spaces are made available to as many customers as possible.
The charges are applied zonally within towns so that those nearest
the business districts are managed for shorter stay, with outer
zones providing longer stay parking.
CEOs will visit the busiest central zone car parks most often to
ensure that customers comply with the rules on each site. Fines
(known as Penalty Charge Notices or PCNs) will be given to
those who do not comply.
Reviews and Consultations
When we propose major changes to the management of our car parks
we carry out reviews and consultation (statutory). Please go to our
Reviews and Consulations page for more
details.

Parking in Your Local Area
If you are looking for a car park in your local area, the

Civil Parking Enforcement
With the introduction of Civil Parking Enforcement, Cheshire
East Council has taken over the responsibility for enforcing
parking, loading and waiting, and other restrictions at various
locations.
Illegal parking on the street will no longer be classed as a
criminal offence and becomes a civil contravention. Civil
Enforcement Officers will issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to
any vehicle parking illegally and will enforce on-street parking as
well as in car parks.
