Learning Disability Partnership Boards
Cheshire East Partnership Board
In Cheshire East we have a Learning Disability
Partnership Board that meets 6 times each year. Members of the
Board include representatives from Cheshire East Council Adult
Social Care, Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust,
Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust, carers, people with a
learning disability, and the elected council member with a lead for
adult social care. The Board is Chaired by Phil Lloyd the Director
of Adults, Community, Health and Wellbeing.
The role of the main Partnership Board is to take a lead on
learning disability policy and practice for Cheshire East by
bringing together the main decision makers and those with key
knowledge and experience about learning disabilities.
The Partnership Board also has to account to government in
relation to local services and outcomes for people with learning
disabilities.
Local Partnership Boards
We also have 2 Local Partnership Boards, which are sub-groups of
the main Cheshire East Partnership Board. One is for the South of
the area (Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach, Middlewich, Congleton) and one
for the North (Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Knutsford). The Local
Partnership Boards have similar representation to the main
Partnership Board plus more learning disability and carer
representatives, and wider representation from independent provider
agencies, advocacy organisations, and others with involvement in
working with people with learning disabilities. The role of the
Local Partnership Boards is to bring together representatives
involved with people with learning disabilities in the area, to
share issues and seek solutions, to raise awareness of learning
disability policies and good practice, to make the main partnership
board aware of local issues, and to implement decisions at local
level.
Other Sub Groups
The Cheshire East Partnership Board also has
other sub-groups which do detailed work on its behalf in specific
areas. At present these sub-groups include:-
- The Learning Disabilities Management Group which
is responsible for the Learning Disabilities Pooled Budget. This
pays for all health and social care services for people with
learning disabilities in Cheshire East. This group includes key
decision makers and finance staff from both Cheshire East Council
and Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust.
- The Better Health Group is, as its name
suggests, involved in improving the health of people with learning
disabilities in Cheshire East. This includes their physical health,
as well as health issues directly contributing to their learning
disability.
- The Leisure and Learning Forum co-ordinates the
work of many statutory and independent agencies that are involved
in developing opportunities for adults with learning disabilities
to learn, increase their skills and abilities, and to find and
enjoy fulfilling leisure activities.
