What is Fostering?
Fostering is where people like you provide a caring and safe
home environment for children and young people, including those who
have disabilities and/or challenging behaviour, while their own
family is unable to look after them.
Fostering is often a temporary arrangement and many children and
young people return to their own families. It can be done on a full
or part-time basis and ranges from short break care to a few months
or even on a long term basis.
We appreciate that choosing to foster a child is not a decision to
be taken lightly and we hope that the different options described
in this website will inform you sufficiently to take the next step.
We’ll be with you all the way, offering help, encouragement,
support and guidance, assisting you through every aspect of the
application process, ensuring that you make the right decision.
Please read the Fostering Service
Statement of Purpose (PDF, 194KB) which details the principles,
values, aims and objectives of the Fostering Service.
If you require further information please fill in our enquiry form and we can answer any
queries or worries you may have. Alternatively you can telephone
Cheshire East Council's Fostering and Adoption hotline for more
information on 0300 123 3223 or email fostering@cheshireeast.gov.uk.
You Can Foster
We are keen to recruit even more foster carers so we have joined
up with the other 22 councils in the north west as part of a
regional 'You Can Foster' campaign. Hopefully you will have seen or
heard one of the adverts somewhere but if not view the
You Can Foster TV
advert
The adverts use real local authority foster carers from across
the region. The You Can Foster campaign aims to show that all
foster carers are different and that there is really no typical
foster carer. All the children we care for are different too, so we
need lots more foster carers to help look after them when they
can’t live in their own homes.
So what are you waiting for?
