The Empower Card - The key to unlocking your future

The Empower card is the brand new way to purchase your social care services, where and when you want to, using your personal budget.

The card is a pre-payment loaded debit card which will help people to have more control of their personal budgets. The Empower card works just like any of the other bank debit cards we use in our everyday lives.

It will help us to pay funds to individuals who are eligible for social care funding as part of their care provision.

In addition to the council’s contribution, you should add any monies you have been advised to pay towards your care onto the card by transferring this from your own bank account by bankers’ order.

The card can then be used to make either one-off or regular payments.

You will only be able to make purchases with the card when there are sufficient funds in your personal budget and you will not be able to spend more than this amount.

Your Empower card will give you:

• Control: Manage your account on the phone or online anytime.
• Support: You will be able to ask questions and get assistance from the Contact Centre at Citi Bank.
• Security: Your card has fraud monitoring and PIN protection.
