Minerals Sites and Areas Assessment 2015
To meet the national policy requirements concerning mineral provision (as set out in The National Planning Policy Framework), the Cheshire East Local Plan will need to identify sites and areas for future mineral extraction in the Borough.
During 2014, we conducted a ‘call for sites’ seeking details of potential mineral sites and areas. Landowners and the minerals industry submitted 29 sites or areas. Each of these has now been subject to a detailed appraisal and the Minerals Sites and Areas Assessment Report includes recommendations including minerals safeguarding areas and indicative draft policies for minerals safeguarding areas.
The evidence collected as part of the 'call for sites' exercise and the recommendations in the report will be subject to formal consultation later in 2016. The report and consultation responses will then be used as part of the evidence base to inform the minerals sites and minerals areas allocations as well as the minerals development management policies within the Cheshire East Local Plan.
