Sandbach Town Strategy
The Sandbach Town Strategy looks at how the town might develop in the future. It indicates where new employment, housing and other uses may be located, along with how new infrastructure might be prioritised.
An Advisory Stakeholder Panel, drawn from the Town Council, community partnerships, local businesses and community groups worked hard to put together their ideas on how they want to see Sandbach grow and develop over the next 20 years.
Consultation took place between 2nd March and 2nd April 2012. All comments received were considered and the document revised accordingly. The document was agreed by Sandbach Town Council, subject to changes to the infrastructure priorities, at its meeting held on 21st August 2012, with the exception of section 6 Development Options.
The Town Council said:
'There are so many imponderables; the Council is unable to validate the development options at this stage. The Council has taken into account the number of houses currently having planning permission, being determined or subject to on-going appeals and considers further robust evidence is required to demonstrate a need for any additional housing allocation, subject to an over-riding maximum of 500 additional houses to be added to the existing commitment.'
The Sandbach Town Strategy now forms part of the Cheshire East Local Plan evidence base and will inform the development of the new Local Plan. It may also be a material consideration in the determination of planning applications.

Consultation on the draft Sandbach Town Strategy: Sustainability Appraisal took place at the same time as the draft Town Strategy. All comments received were considered and the Appraisal revised accordingly. The results of the Sustainability Appraisal informed the production and revision of the Town Strategy and will inform the wider Sustainability Appraisal of the Local Plan.
