Equipment for independent living

If you have problems getting around your home, or getting out and about, there is a range of equipment available to help you. This can include electronic sensors, detectors, monitors, apps and alarms that can keep you safe at home by:

  • monitoring your environment
  • monitoring your health and mobility
  • automatically calling for help if needed
  • sending reassurance to your family and friends that you are safe and well

If you have physical difficulties living in your home, the  Occupational Therapy Service can provide advice, assessments and solutions, including equipment and adaptations.

The following pages will give you information about the various kinds of equipment that may help you to maintain your independence, safety and quality of life.
