What's new?

Animal Agents summer reading challenge

We have some special events planned this summer to keep children motivated to complete the challenge. These events are free unless otherwise stated. Please book in advance as places are limited:

Fun science

On Friday 18 August we have a chemical/electrical extravaganza with Fun Science. Two sessions to choose from at 10.00am or 11.30am. Poynton Town Council has kindly sponsored this event.

Giant games

On Thursday 24 August at 2.00-4.00pm join us for Giant Games for all the family. Just drop in - no need to book.

Amazing Stephen magic show

On Friday 1 September at 2.00pm we have a fantastic magic show with the Amazing Stephen. Poynton Town Council has kindly sponsored this event.

LEGO club

On Thursday 7 September at 3.30-4.45pm unleash your creativity at our monthly LEGO Club. Suitable for school age children. Duplo available for younger ones. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The reading challenge ends on Saturday 9 September, so make sure you have read six books and let us know to ensure you get your certificate and medal. Library staff would like to thank Poynton Town Council for their generous donation, which has enabled us to offer our children's events free of charge this summer.

Charles Heathcote author visit 

In place of our regular book discussion group, on Tuesday 12 September at 2.00pm local author, Charles Heathcote, will be talking about, and reading extracts from, his new book, Indisputably Doris. Free event; everyone welcome.

One You advice desk

Get free help and advice on diet and exercise, or changing smoking and drinking habits, from One You Cheshire East on Friday 15 September. Just drop in between 10.00am and 12.00 noon.

Poynton poetry trail

Poems submitted by the public will be on display in shops and the library between Monday 18 September and Thursday 28 September. Guides to the trail will be available in the Civic Hall and the library.

Health and wellbeing fair

On Saturday 23 September come and find our information table at the Health and Wellbeing Fair in the Civic Hall between 9.00am and 12.00 noon. The library will be open and is right next door the the Civic Hall, so pop in and discover our services first hand too.

National Poetry Day 2017

On Thursday 28 September at 7.00pm we have an Open Mic Night hosted by local author, Margaret Holbrook. Come along and read a poem of your own or a favourite by another poet. Free event; everyone welcome. Refreshments available. If you wish to read, please register on arrival.

Get Online Week 2017

Look our for drop-in events between Monday 2 and Saturday 7 October. Further details to follow.

Kate Ellis author visit

On Tuesday 10 October at 7.30pm Kate Ellis will be here to talk about her work and help us celebrate National Libraries Week. Tickets £3.50; booking is essential. Refreshments available.

Ancestry taster sessions

The cost is £5 for an hour long one to one session. Please contact the library for details and to book a session.

Computer Buddy sessions

Basic computer skills sessions with an IT buddy are now available at the library at £2.00 per hour. This entitles you to an hour's free use of the computers after your tutored session to practice what you have learned. Please contact the library for more details.
