What's new?

First hippo on the moon

To coincide with the performance of 'The First Hippo on the Moon' at the Lyceum Theatre on Sunday 5 March, we are holding a special picture hunt around the library from Monday 20 February until Friday 24 February.

The hunt will feature key characters from the hilarious David Walliams book, and all children are welcome to take part for the chance to win a fabulous prize of a family ticket to see the show and a signed copy of the picture book.

There will also be free colouring and activity sheets on hand, just for fun. Contact the library for further details.

LEGO club

Join us for a superhero themed LEGO Club on Saturday 4 March at 11.00-12.00 noon. Free. Duplo available for the under-3s.

Book appreciation group

Join us on Monday 20 March at 2.00-3.00pm for our regular Good Reads session. Bring along one or more of your favourite books to share with the group. Free; refreshments available.

Matthew R. Hall author visit

On Thursday 23 March at 7.15pm, crime author M. R. Hall will be appearing at the library as part of the Scribefest Middlewich Literary Festival. Matthew will talk about his well-regarded Coroner Jenny Cooper series. Tickets £3.00.

Sarah Rayne author visit

On Friday 24 March at 7.00pm, Sarah Rayne, author of numerous psychological/supernatural thrillers, will be appearing at the library as part of the Scribefest Middlewich Literary Festival. Tickets £2.00.

Narrow Dog to Middlewich

Meet Monica and Terry Darlington, and Jess the Dog, on Saturday 25 March. There will be a talk, display and book signing in the library from 2.00pm. Tickets £2.00. This is a Scribefest Middlewich Literary festival event.

  • Book Appreciation Society - 2.15pm - monthly. Meets on one Monday of each month. Please contact the library for details of the dates


  • Rhymetime for under 5's - 10.30-11.00am - weekly. Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer


  • Knit, stitch and natter - 2.30-4.00pm - monthly. Meets on first Friday of each month. For anyone who can knit, crochet or sew, or who wants to learn how. Free; bring your own materials and share your skills, patterns, tips and chat with like-minded crafters


  • LEGO Club - 11.00-12.00 noon - monthly on the first Saturday of the month. Duplo available for children under 3. Free

Work club

If you need support getting back into work why not join us at Middlewich Library every Wednesday between 10.00am and 12.00 noon? We have experienced advisors on hand to help with CV writing, job application forms, and we can help you with the Universal Job Match website. You can access the latest jobs online and search the local papers for work. There is no need to book; just drop in. We even have free tea and coffee available.
