What’s On System Help Page
This page contains helpful tips and explanations for submitting
events using the Cheshire East events system.
Category
Please select a category that best fits your event.
Activities for children – events suitable for
babies and children up to 16 years, for example playgroups, sport,
learning activities, clubs and organisations.
Activities for over 50’s – events featuring
sport, leisure, learning and social gatherings.
Adult Learning – events for vocational and
non-vocational learning, for example day and evening college
classes, U3A and AIR.
Countryside – events in the rural splendour of
Cheshire East, for example countryside walks and trails, animals
and wildlife and events organised by the Countryside Ranger
Service.
Exhibitions – events at museums, libraries,
stately homes, civic halls, galleries and other locations
reflecting art, culture and the rich heritage of Cheshire East.
Festivals and Fairs – one off and regular
seasonal events for example country shows, rallies, carnivals,
Party in the Park, antique and craft fairs and farmer’s
markets.
Film/Theatre – events at cinemas and theatres
including the latest films, amateur dramatics and touring repertory
theatre.
Music – events featuring all types of music,
for example open air concerts, brass band events, choral, jazz and
opera.
Openings and Launches – Open or launch events
to local organisations across Cheshire East.
Sport/Recreation – indoor and outdoor events
featuring sporting activities, dance classes, sports clubs, support
groups, societies and organisations which arrange social gatherings
and activities.
Talks/Lectures – events featuring talks,
lectures, slide shows and debates, including Annual General
Meetings and support group activities.
Town and Parish Council Meetings – meetings to
discuss Town Councils and Parish Councils.
Organisation
Please enter the name of the individual, group or society
organising the event.
Contact
The contact name, address, phone number and email address of the
event organiser. These details will be made available on the
website to be viewed by all users. Please therefore ensure that the
appropriate details are given to avoid unwanted and unnecessary
contact.
Event Start, Event End and Event date
The Event Start and Event End details are used to enable the
database to search for the event. The event date is an open-format
text-field and will be automatically filled in for you when
‘Automatically enter date range’ is clicked.
Brief Description
This must be a short and concise description of the event, with
a maximum of 250 characters. Please note that there is a character
countdown so you know how many characters you have left. This
description will appear on the What’s On list which summarises all
events.
Long Description
This is a full description of the event, with a maximum of 4000
characters, allowing a very detailed description of the event.
Please note that there is a character countdown so you know how
many characters you have left. This will appear when the user views
or prints an individual event.
Event Postcode
The postcode of the location of the event must be included. The
full postcode will enable us to include your event on the Events
Mapping System.
Website Address
It is not mandatory to provide a website address as we are aware
that many organisations operate successfully without one. However,
if you do have one and wish to also provide a user friendly website
name as outlined below, please be aware that the user will be
unable to access you website if you have not provided the full
website address.
Website Name
This is optional and will only apply if your website has an
abbreviated, user-friendly popular name (e.g. ‘Google’). As
outlined above, if you wish to supply the abbreviated name, please
remember to supply us with the full address of your website.
Please Note
Cheshire East Council will maintain full editorial rights and
will modify or reject any submissions which it feels does not meet
the standards required for the What's On website.
