What is a Ranger?

Countryside Ranger talking to the public The Cheshire East Ranger Service is made up of a group of professional dedicated people, who are charged with the task of maintaining & improving the sustainability of our local environment.

Rangers work throughout Cheshire East, helping people to appreciate and improve their environment. Cheshire East Rangers are responsible for many countryside sites and urban parks throughout the region and work to maintain and enhance them throughout the year. Find out more about the Countryside Sites we manage.

We also provide free advice on wildlife and habitat management and will assist individuals and organisations to understand and enjoy the local environment. Our team of trained staff also offer a series of illustrated talks to schools, organisations and community groups and can also provide a comprehensive range of schools and community activities for all ages of children and young adults.

Throughout the year, rangers carry out practical wildlife management/habitat creation work on our countryside sites, and are always happy to explain their work to anyone who asks. Please do look out for our leaflets and notices about work being undertaken in your area. Throughout the year we also run over 120 wide ranging public events, which you are most welcome to attend. For more information on how you can subscribe to our email newsletter or find out about the latests events listings, visit our Ranger events page.
