October 2012 Ranger Events

The Rangers run a large number of varied and interesting events, across Cheshire East, throughout the year. Adult and child (4-17 years old) charges are shown for each event, Children under 4 are free.

Sunday, October 7

Feed the Birds at Tegg's Nose

Join Macclesfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers at Teggs Nose Country Park any time between 10.00am and 12.00noon for a family event making a range of bird feeders and bird food to help our garden birds survive the colder months ahead.

Visitors can also help make a range of wildlife homes, plant wildflower seeds and collect lots of information on wildlife-friendly gardening. A birdwatching walk for adults will depart from the Visitor Centre at 10.30am.

Down The Mines! - Advanced Expedition

Bookable event: Join Derbyshire Caving Club for an extended trip down the old copper mines of Alderley Edge. Helmets with lamps provided, but please wear old clothes. Significant ladder climbing and a more strenuous event than our regular expedition. Suitable for over 12's only. Booking and payment in advance is essential. Cost £11.

Macclesfield Town Geology Trail

Bookable event: Join geologists Professor Cynthia Burek, a regular presenter on T.V. and Veronica Cubbit Caddy for this guided walk  around the fascinating town of Macclesfield. Please wear warm clothing as the pace will be slow and there will be many stopping points along the walk. Booking and payment in advance is essential. Adults £3, Children £1.

Willow - Simple baskets and willow plates

Bookable event: Learn the art of willow basket making with expert willow weaver Jeff Allen on this day long course in Nantwich. Take your basket home with you at the end of the day. Booking and payment in advance is essential. Suitable for beginners. Cost £50.
