The Rangers run a large number of varied and
interesting events, across Cheshire East, throughout the
year. Adult and child (4-17 years old) charges are shown for
each event, Children under 4 are free.

Sunday, June 3
Navigation course for walkers – Full day session
Bookable event: Moorland
Adventure working with the Countryside Ranger Service present a
navigation course for everyone who walks in the countryside.
Participants can even gain a qualification if they wish or just
book on one event for a taster. The course is being run in parallel
in 2 locations.
Full day session - A full day out hill
walking following the prepared route and practicing map reading
skills as well as having a very enjoyable walk.

Jubilee Bike Ride
Bookable event: Why not
spend a Sunday morning enjoying a pleasant cycle ride around the
Sandbach and Alsager area? This cycle ride will take in the
Wheelock Rail Trail and the Salt Line, both of which were once used
by the Royal Train when the trails were railways.
The route also includes road cycling, so is
not suitable for young children. (Cycling helmets must be used and
are not provided by event organisers). Booking

Down The Mines!
Bookable event: Join
Derbyshire Caving Club for a trip down the old copper mines of
Alderley Edge. Helmets with lamps provided, but please wear old
clothes. Some ladder climbing and crawling involved, suitable for
adults and children over 6. Booking and payment in advance
is essential. Cost £7.

Forest Fairies

fairy trail, build a beautiful fairy house, make a fairy wand,
fairy wings and a beautiful woodland crown to wear as we discover
the magical world of the little people that live in the forests.

Romany Open Day
Better known as Romany to his many
“Children's Hour” listeners in the 1930s and 1940s, the Reverend
George Bramwell Evens was the first media naturalist to fire the
imagination of a generation. These open days are your chance to
visit his caravan and learn a little more about his life and times,
with the help of the Rangers and members of the Romany Society,
through storytelling and displays. The caravan is situated in the
Romany Memorial Gardens, South Drive, Wilmslow.

A Walk to the Forest

An evening event held by Manchester and
District Orienteering Club. Courses suitable for everyone;

The Bollin in Macclesfield
Bookable event: A six mile
walk up the Bollin through the heart of Macclesfield towards the
source, as far as Langley. Returning via the Hollins, Macclesfield
Canal and Middlewood Way. This walk highlights Macclesfield’s
industrial past and present, with some great views of the town.

Evening walk up Shutlingsloe
Enjoy the long summer evenings on this 4km
(2.5 mile) walk up Cheshire's second highest peak. On a clear day

Fancy a Paddle?

learn a little bit about kayaking and canoeing on the beautiful
Rudyard Lake, Rudyard. The event is delivered by Moorland
Adventure. Full instruction equipment and buoyancy aids will be

essential. All participants must be older than 9 years old
