Saturday 1 July

Printmaking Workshop – Imprint of Hill and Habitat

At Tegg’s Nose Country Park there is a wealth of inspiration for images from broad and sweeping landscapes to tiny flowers and insects. Local artists Patty Callaghan and Ann Robertson hope to encourage others to look more closely at these surroundings and explore them on paper, producing their own response in print.

Both linocut and monoprinting will be offered. Each participant should have a finished print at the end of the day. Booking and payment in advance is essential. All participants must be 16 years or older. Cost £40 per person including lunch at the Tegg’s Nose Tea Room.

Explore Patty and Ann’s work further in their exhibition at the Tegg’s Nose Gallery from the 17th June to the 12th July.

Ramble with the Rangers – Wincle

Join East Cheshire Ramblers and the Rangers for a circular 9.8km (6 mile) guided walk, from Wincle, while looking out for signs of wildlife. Booking in advance is essential.

Celebrate National Meadows Day 2017 on Dane-in-Shaw Pasture SSSI

Join the Countryside Rangers and local wildlife expert Jack Swan to take a closer look at life on the Dane-in-Shaw Pasture SSSI meadows. We will guide you across this very special wildflower meadow looking at not only the wild flowers but also at the amazing variety of creatures that live on the meadow plants. We will identify butterflies and bees, hoverflies and beetles, in fact anything we see, we will look at more closely and learn about its life. 

Following the event you are welcome to stay and enjoy your picnic lunch in the meadow.

After lunch why not have a go at the nature rubbing trail. This is a brand new activity on the nearby Biddulph Valley Way and will be launched on this day too. The trail provides 8 rubbing posts, positioned at specific locations on the Biddulph Valley Way. The trail activity is great fun for all the family, and we invite you to pick up our rubbing sheets and crayons and find all the rubbing posts during a self-guided family nature walk.

This event is part of National Meadows Day, a growing event which celebrates wildflower grasslands, providing an opportunity to showcase the amazing wildflowers and species we have on our sites and in your communities. Booking in advance is essential.

Saturday 8 July

Intro to Foraging with James Wood – Macclesfield Riverside Park

If you’ve every been interested in wild food and want to begin learning a little more about the wild plants growing around us then this course will definitely start you in the right direction.

The session will begin with introductions and a talk about what foraging is all about. We quickly move on to a think about how to correctly identify plants and trees in the mind set of a forager. Then we head out to explore our site discovering what wild edibles can be found growing all around us, whilst trying up to 5 pre-made tasters including, jams, chutneys, pickles and syrups. We will harvest a number of wild species which are made in to a tea and enjoyed by us all as we return to our main site and re-cap on the session.

Booking and payment in advance is essential. Cost: £20 per adult, 1 accompanied Child (under the age of 16) is free, additional children £5.

Join the Bollin Valley Rangers on an evening of willow weaving. Try your hand at a number of different projects including bird feeders and platters. Summer Mindfulness Walk with Pamela Carr

If you enjoy walking, love nature and want to explore Mindfulness - join Pamela Carr on this leisurely morning walk with a difference. The circular walk (about 2 miles) will include some pauses and simple exercises to help us to slow down, become more present and open our senses to what we can see, hear, feel, smell and maybe even taste, moment by moment. Each walk in the series will have a different theme.

Pamela loves this beautiful space and experiences new inspiration every time she visits.  Previous walkers have spoken about discovering for themselves the quietening, calming and creative benefits of walking mindfully in nature. You might like to bring your notebook or camera.

Following the walk you’ll return to the popular Tegg's Nose Tea Room to share discoveries and creative ideas.  Optional drinks/snacks available to purchase. Suitable for anyone over the age of 16.
