Race Online 2012
Cheshire East
Council pledges to help 2,000 people get online before the end of
2012 by asking its Library Service to fulfill its part in the UK
nationwide Race Online 2012 pledge.
This pledge is for Public Libraries to bring 500,000 people
online by 2012. Cheshire East Council, through its libraries, will
also support national campaigns such as Silver Surfers' Day, Adult
Learners’ Week and Get Online Week.
The libraries will provide access to tuition in their role as UK
Online Centres and will develop a volunteer programme of IT
Buddies.
They will also continue to offer free internet access and
develop their online library and information services. Cheshire
East Council will be continually improving online access to
services and promoting opportunities for service users to interact
with the Council online.
If you would like help in getting online or if you are able to
help others as a volunteer IT Buddy, please contact your local library.
