We have a range of FREE activities throughout the week including:
On Saturday 15th June at 10.00-1.00pm we are celebrating the launch of the new Cheshire Image Bank. In collaboration with Cheshire Archives & Local Studies we are hosting a free, drop-in event to promote the launch of the new website. There will be a film show of life in Cheshire past and a Conservator from the Record Office will be on hand with expert advice on how to conserve old photographs. Refreshments available.
The Cheshire Image Bank currently hosts over 21,000 historic images of Cheshire. This extensive compilation of photographs, prints, maps and other historic images show a way of life long since disappeared. It is free to use and can be searched for local people, places or events. High quality images can also be purchased.
We enjoyed a full house at our 1920s Murder Mystery event, 'Who Killed Sir Randolph?' on Wednesday 6th March. Crime writer, Martin Edwards wrote the script for the evening, while players from the Wilmslow Green Room performed the parts. The audience then had to decide who had committed the crime.
It was a very enjoyable evening, with the audience really
getting into the spirit of the era and the crime. We had some
fabulous flappers present! While answers were being marked, Martin
Edwards gave a talk on the history of the detective novel before
the three correct, and most inventive, winners were
announced.
Pictured are, left to right, four actors from the Wilmslow Green Room, crime author Martin Edwards and winners Geoff Lucas, Elaine Lucas and Terry Brook.
