Details of courses running from 2012. Please contact
the Leisure Centre for details of availability. We will be
pleased to add your contact details to waiting lists where
necessary.
Parent and Babes
These courses are organised with one teacher in the pool and one
on poolside, and are aimed at helping the adult enourage the tot in
water confidence and to take the first steps towards learning to
swim and gain badges as they progress.
- Tuesday ~ 9.45am - 10.15am
- Friday ~ 10.45pm - 11.15am
Cost for 6 week course: Standard - £25.20. Options (low
income or seniors) - £15.00
Ducklings
This new addition to our timetable is for
pre-school children aged over 3. The ASA Duckling awards
are designed to help toddlers enjoy learning to swim with the help
of parents or guardians who are in the pool with them.
- Thursday ~ 12.00pm - 12.30pm
- Friday ~ 11.15am - 11.45am
Cost for 6 week course: Standard
- £25.20. Options (low income or seniors) £15.00
Junior Swimming Lessons
From the school term in which child turns 5 -
lessons run in half hour sessions on 12 - 13 week courses.
Our courses follow the Amateur Swimming Association National Plan
for Teaching Swimming, and take place during the following
times:
- Monday ~ 4.30 - 6.30pm
- Tuesday ~ 4.30 - 6.30pm
- Wednesday ~ 4.00 - 6.30pm
- Thursday ~ 5.00 - 6.30pm
- Friday ~ 4.00 - 6.30pm
- Saturday ~ 9.30 - 12.00pm
Cost for the12 week course starting in January
2012 is,
Stages 1/2: Standard £61.20, Options (low
income) £37.20
Stages 3+: Standard £57.60, Options (low income) £34.80
Due to demand, it is advised to put names down on the waiting
list well in advance of the child becoming eligible.
Dolphins
Children work towards Royal Life Saving Society Rookie Awards,
and have normally completed ASA Stage 6 or 7.
- Friday ~ 6.30 - 7.00pm
- Friday ~ 7.00 - 7.30pm
Cost of 10 week course: Standard £48.00, Options (low
income) £31.00
Synchro Swim Courses
These courses are currently held on a Friday evening and are
aimed at children who have completed Stage 6 and 7 and are aged 8
and over.
Cost of 12 week course is £61.20, Options £37.20
Adult Swimming Lessons
Work at your own pace to learn to swim, or improve stroke and
confidence, under the guidance of one of our instructors.
- Friday ~ 11.45 - 12.30pm Beg/Imp
Cost of 6 week course of 3/4 hour lessons:
Standard £47.40 Options (low income, seniors) £19.20
Junior Badminton
For ages 8+ to learn technique and play against
opponents with instruction from our coach.
- Thursday ~ 6.00 - 7.00pm Beg 8yrs+
Cost of 6 week course: £22.50
Adult Badminton
Now runs as a club booking, and is not a coached session.
Fencing 
For children aged 8 upwards and adults whilst in a safe
environment, under the instruction of Professor Bob Merry.
All attendees will work towards a British Academy of
Fencing Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards. Professor Merry organises
