Macclesfield Leisure Centre Closures and Policies
Forthcoming Closures
Sometimes we need to close specific parts of the leisure centre
due to events and activities that are taking place. Information
about expected closures is set out below. If you are in any doubt
about whether the activity you wish to participate in will be
available on any of the dates below, please contact the leisure
centre before arranging to
travel.
May 2012
- Saturday 12th May - Badminton Tournament - Sports
hall closed 9.00 - 19.00
- Friday 25th May - All pools closed 13.00 - 15.30 due to
Kings School Gala - pool open 10.30 - 13.00 and 15.30 - 19.15
June 2012

busy, although all our facilities are still available, please be
aware in advance.
- Saturday 30th June - East Cheshire Hospice Midnight Walk
Sports hall closed 20.00 onwards.
August 2012
- Sunday 19th August 2012 - Due to 'Sky Ride' Bike ride
starting at Macclesfield Leisure Centre, the car park will be very
busy, although all our facilities are still available, please be
aware in advance.

Policies
Our Approach to Customer Care
Cheshire East Council is committed to Customer Care. 'We

and to give you, the customer, a consistent, high quality and
satisfying experience each time you visit.'
Leisure Facilities staff will endeavour to carry out the
following at all times:
- Recognise that the customer comes first and has the right to
ask for what they want.
- Treat customers politely, courteously and with respect at all
times.
- Listen to new ideas/suggestions for service improvements.
- Continually strive to improve services and to meet the needs of
all the community.
- Be visible and give quality time to service users. Aim to
answer questions and work to resolve areas of concern.
- Make customer satisfaction our highest priority.
- Be prepared to accept criticism and use it to improve the way
we deliver our service.
Cheshire East Child Admissions Policy
All children under the age of 8 years old must be supervised in
the water by a responsible person age 16 years or older.
All children under the age of 8 years must also be either a
competent swimmer or be wearing armbands and / or other appropriate
flotation device*.
Main Pools
One responsible adult can supervise:
Either up to 2 children aged 4 to 7 years OR 1
child under the age of 4
Teaching / Small Pools (Where Available)
One responsible adult can supervise:
Either up to 3 children aged 4 to 7 years OR
Up to 2 children under the age of 8
Family Swimming Sessions
Some centres operate special family swimming sessions where part
of the shallow water in the main pool is segregated and directly
supervised. Where these sessions are offered the teaching / small
pool admissions policy will apply to the segregated part of the
pool.
- Please note that lifeguards / duty managers will have final say
on whether a swimmer is competent or that flotation devices are
suitable.
- This policy is based on The Chartered Institute for the
Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) and local risk
assessments.
