Why swim?
For many years swimming has been the countries number one sporting activity. Providing one of the best all round physical exercises, swimming can improve health, aid weight loss, build stamina, strength and mobility and the risk of injury is far less than other sports or activities due to the support of the water. Suitable for people of all abilities and with many therapeutic and rehabilitation uses. Swimming is also great fun and an excellent social activity.
The ability to swim opens doors for safe participation in many other activities including diving, sailing, sub aqua etc., as well as providing water safety aspect.
Swimming helps develop a child’s co-ordination, social skills and has been reported to improve sleeping and eating and is one of the few physical or sporting activities that can be enjoyed by all members of the family together.
Most of all, swimming is FUN.
Where Can I Swim?
Each of the areas Leisure Centres has a swimming pool (or pools) available for public swiming as well as other activities including aquarobics, swimming clubs and much more.
