Volunteer Programme
Volunteers play a pivotal role in all the work we do. Without
the hard-work and dedication of volunteers, our programmes and
local sports clubs would not run. It is estimated that the
contribution made by volunteers to sport each year is worth around
£1.5 billion! Most sports volunteers rarely use the term
'volunteer' to describe their activities, they see themselves as
coaches, umpires, referees, team managers, club personnel or event
organisers. Behind the scenes there are treasurers, committee
members, planners, researchers, IT website managers, journalists
and photographers. In short, there is a vast array of roles
supporting and surrounding sport without which sport would not be
able to function.

voluntary opportunities to the local community of Cheshire East in
different community sport and play activities as we get closer to
the Games.
London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games
Embrace the Games
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic
Games will provide a once in a lifetime opportunity for
thousands of people willing to contribute to the world’s biggest
sporting event. The Cheshire East Leisure and Play Development Team
will have a range of opportunities related to the Games and will also conduct Olympic and
Paralympic specific training to volunteers in lead up to the
event.
Furthermore, the team are more than happy to help volunteers on
the Cheshire East Leisure and Play Development Volunteer Programme
