Disability Sports - Inclusive Sports Activities
Cheshire East Leisure and Play Development Team (
LAPD
) are involved with
the delivery and provision of a wide range of sport and play
activities across Cheshire East from local community activities
through to London 2012 Olympics and
Paralympics.
More recently the team have been focusing on the provision of
appropriate, inclusive and fun activities
for young
people who may have additional needs. These have included regular
Active8 sessions, Disability Awareness Day and the School Sports
Partnership Identifying Ability Days to ensure every young disabled
person, whether receiving their education in special or mainstream
schools, has the opportunity to demonstrate their ability through
PE, out-of-school-hour clubs and competitions
In addition to these activities the
LAPD
team are looking to
extend the opportunities available across Cheshire East for all
types of sport, physical activity and active recreation. By working
with organisations and support groups such as Aiming High for Disabled Children to
ensure they are accessible to young people and adults who have
additional needs.
