The Work Choice Programme
Cheshire East Supported Employment delivers the Work Choice Programme in partnership with Shaw Trust and the DWP. This is a government led programme which offers support to you as a disabled job seeker to find paid work and up to two years further support once you have become employed to help sustain your job.
You may qualify if:
- you are disabled as defined by the Equalities Act 2010 and your disability means that you face significant barriers to work
You are claiming:
- Incapacity Benefit and/or National Insurance Credit (including Severe Disability Allowance and Income Support); or Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) and/or National Insurance Credits only for six months or more; or
- JSA and/or National Insurance Credits for less than six months but on Incapacity Benefit before claiming JSA; or if you have been supported before and need to return to the programme within two years
You may also be eligible if you are currently in work but at risk of losing your job as a result of a disability, or have recently left education and have demonstrated a need for support in work.
How the Work Choice programme is delivered
Work Choice is delivered within modules dependent on the individuals needs after an Initial Assessment has been made to make sure you are applicable for the programme.
Module 1 Work entry support
We will offer you support for up to 6 months providing training and workshops to enhance your chances of finding paid work. Our aim is to support you to find paid work of 16 and hours and above per week and ensure you to sustain your job independently.
Module 2 In-Work support
We can offer ongoing support once you have found employment which can last up to 2 years which may include on the job training and keeping up relations between you and your employer
Module 3 Longer-term in-work support
We can also provide a longer term support which may apply to some individuals
