Work Experience
Cheshire East Council is committed to offering high quality work
experience placements across the authority in order to support our
young learners who will soon see work becoming an important part of
their lives.
Work experience placements are widely available for students
aged between 14 and 18, who reside within the Cheshire East
boundary and attend Cheshire East schools or colleges.
The Council actively works with Schools in the provision of
placements to students.
Placements
We provide a diverse range of services, from education, social
services, housing to highways, refuse collection and horticulture.
This means we can offer you a wide range of work placement
opportunities and experience to acquire a positive attitude and key
skills that all employers are looking for.
However, to qualify for a work placement, you need to live
inside the Cheshire East boundary and go to a Cheshire East school,
college or University.
At the end of your work placement, you will receive a
certificate from your line manager and a letter from *Portfolio
Holder* to thank you for all your hard work.
We hope you find this area of the website useful and
interesting.
Organising a Placement
How do we arrange work placements in the Council?
For year 10/11 students
You need to apply via your School Work Placement Co-ordinator.
Your application will be processed by Education Business Plus
(
EBP
) who work with
schools and employers to ensure that your application is properly
processed and that you get the type of work placement you are
interested in.
Please Note: Cheshire East Council managers and
staff should not be contacted direct. The Council does not accept
your application directly (including self-placements). You must
apply through your school.
For 6th form and university students
Please note that all applicants must live and attend school /
college / university within the Cheshire East area.
How does it work?
- Once you know which work placement you are interested in, your
next step is to contact your School or College Work Placement
Co-ordinator
- You need to tell him / her the type of work placement you would
like to apply for
- Your teacher will apply on your behalf
- If you are successful, you will be contacted directly by the
service department. In most cases, you will be asked to attend an
informal interview. The purpose is to give you the opportunity to
see the workplace and find out more about the placement before you
start. It will also enable the team leader to prepare an
interesting and useful placement programme for you.
