A-Team Apprenticeships- Inspirational Community
Partnerships
Cheshire East Council’s A-Team is committed to
ensuring young people have opportunities to develop and gain
employment. The A-Team is a leading apprenticeship scheme and has
provided opportunities to over 70 apprentices in 2010-11.
Alongside providing opportunities directly, we also work in
partnership with a number of community organisations and continue
to create new partnerships across our borough to benefit young
people.
A very successful partnership we are particularly proud of
is the one we have with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Princes
Trust Teams. As a result of that partnership we have provided
personal development opportunities for unemployed young people aged
16-24 and have also directly recruited 4 young people into A-Team
apprenticeships in 2011 all of whom have completed the 12 week
personal development programme. One of them has just been awarded
A-Team Apprentice of the Year and is also benefitting from an
innovative partnership between the A-Team and Wulvern Housing.
Kai, 20, from Crewe, who is completing an apprenticeship in
business, was recruited directly from a Cheshire Fire & Rescue
Princes Trust team and spent his 1st six month placement in Housing
Options in Crewe gaining wide exposure to the full service. He has
since moved to work on the Total Community Initiative and is the
first A-Team apprentice to be based with an external partner, in
this case, Wulvern Housing, a firm partner of the A-Team. He was
awarded apprentice of the Year in August 2011.
"During my time at Cheshire East, I have met some of the
greatest, hard working group of people I have ever met, and commend
the council for its hard work. I have been welcomed by everyone I
have worked with and I must say thank you to all of them."
