Energy Efficiency Cash Back Assistance
Making homes warmer, reducing fuel bills and tackling climate
change
We have experienced overwhelming demand for the scheme
already, and have now fully committed our budget for this
year.
If you would like to join our emailing list so that we can
keep you informed if any further funding for energy
efficiency measures becomes available, please send an email to
privatehousing@cheshireeast.gov.uk. Your
details will only be used for the purposes of informing you
about the energy efficiency cash back scheme and will not be passed
to other parties.
How much is it?
Up to £100 per measure.
Am I eligible to apply?
If you are an owner-occupier, a landlord, or a tenant with
repairing obligations, you can apply.
What works will it pay for?
Funding has run out for the following, but when money becomes
available, we will fund:
- All types of cavity wall insulation
- Loft insulation up to the current recommended
thickness
- External solid wall insulation
- Internal solid wall insulation
- Ground floor insulation
- Draught-proofing to windows and doors
- Installation of a condensing boiler (minimum SEDBUK Grade
B)
Funding is still available for renewable
energy measures.
How do I apply?
The scheme is closed at the moment, as funding has run
out. When the scheme relaunches, we will issue vouchers on a
first come first served basis.
Once you receive your voucher, you need to find a contractor who
will accept it as part-payment. The Energy Savings Trust Advice
Centre may be able to help you, on 0800 512
012. Once the work has been completed to your
satisfaction, give the contractor your voucher and they will claim
the £100 from us. You will only need to pay the excess amount above
the £100 voucher.
If your contractor won't accept the voucher, you can still claim
the money back. You will need to pay the contractor in full, and
send a copy of the receipt to us with your voucher. We will then
send a cheque to you.
Where can I find details of suitable contractors?
The Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre will be able to give you
details of insulation installers working locally and details of any
discount schemes currently on offer. Contact them on 0800
512 012.
Please note that the Council does not employ, recommend or approve
any surveyors or contractors.
Can I carry out the work myself?
Yes you can (apart from cavity wall insulation), and we will pay
for the cost of materials up to £100 per measure.
If you are installing a condensing boiler yourself, you need to
provide evidence of your registration on the Gas Safe
Register.
Do I have to repay this assistance?
No, it is not repayable.
Can I apply again?
You can apply again for different measures – but you can’t apply
twice for the same measure.
