Saved and Other Policies
Saved policies are planning policies from previous structure
plans and local plans that remain part of the statutory development
plan for Cheshire East and can still be used in determining
planning applications.
The new Cheshire East Local Plan will
form the statutory development plan for Cheshire East. However, the
Cheshire East Local Plan is at an early stage of development
and there are no adopted Development Plan Documents at present.
Under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, adopted
structure plan and local plan policies are automatically saved for
three years from either
- The date of commencement of the Act, or
- The date the plan was adopted.
However, Local Authorities may apply to the Secretary of State
to extend policies where they are necessary and do not
repeat national guidance.
Currently, the following documents have saved policies that
apply within all or part of the Cheshire East area:
Saved policies in these documents will continue to be used until
they are replaced by new policies in the Cheshire East Local
Plan.
A printed list of the policies in the adopted development plan (PDF,
201KB) is also available
Other Policies
In addition to the Local Plan and saved policies, there are also
a number of documents that set out the Council's intentions with
regard to specific topics and sites/areas. These are
accessible from the Additional Planning
Policies page.
