Town Strategies
Town Strategies are being prepared for Crewe, Macclesfield and
the nine 'Key Service Centres' in Cheshire East to help inform the
Local Plan. The strategies are prepared in partnership by Cheshire
East Council, Town and Parish Councils and the local communities to
set out the vision and strategy for the future development
of each town over the next 20 years.
The Strategies consider how new development can help to deliver
the Vision for the town, how the environment is to be enhanced and
what improvements to infrastructure, such as schools, are needed.
They are being prepared to enable local people to have a greater
say in planning the future of their town and to make sure that
local issues and concerns are taken into account as the Local Plan
is produced. Once finalised, all strategies will be part of the
evidence base used to develop the Local Plan.

Council in partnership with consultants and Cheshire East Council
and consultation ran from 1st April
2012 until 31st May 2012. The document

Phase 1: Neighbourhood Planning Consultation for Alsager,
Congleton, Middlewich and Sandbach
Alsager, Congleton, Middlewich and Sandbach were selected
as part of an exciting Government project to pilot an innovative
approach to involving local communities in the planning
process. Advisory Panels drawn from the Town Councils,
community partnerships, local businesses and community groups
worked hard to put together their ideas on how they want to see
their town grow and develop over the next 20 years. Public
consultation on draft Town Strategies for Alsager, Congleton,
Middlewich and Sandbach took place from the 2nd March to
2nd April 2012.
Each of the Town Strategies was revised accordingly following
the public consultation and has been approved by their respective
Town Council.
The list of Frequently Asked
Questions from the consultation is also still available for
