How to Obtain Location Plans
Any maps required for use with a planning application must be
obtained from an authorised vendor. The Council is no longer
able to supply Ordnance Survey maps direct to the public.

Online Sources
You can also buy site plans online direct from Ordnance
Survey. If buying online, please note that it is illegal to
scan and copy the map that you have purchased. You will therefore
need to buy the required number of copies.
The Planning
Portal provides a service which allows the site boundary to be
drawn onscreen by the purchaser before supplying the map as a JPG
file. Several alternative sizes are offered. Please select the 4
hectare option if possible.
Other online mapping services may also be available. If
obtaining maps from other sources, please ensure that they are
appropriate for their intended use as site location
plans. Land Registry plans are not suitable.

the purpose of planning applications. Copyright Licences can be
obtained from the Copyright Licensing Department, Ordnance Survey,

online - Ordnance
Survey Copyright Licence Application.
All map extracts should clearly show an authorised copier’s
licence number together with the appropriate copyright
acknowledgements.
