Skin Piercing and Tattooing
If you offer tattooing, semi-permanent skin colouring, cosmetic
piercing, or electrolysis you must be registered as 'an individual'
with Cheshire East Council.
If you work from premises, they must also be registered.

Application Evaluation Process
- Once the application is received an appointment is made
with the applicant to check that the premises and
procedures comply with the relevant
legislation.
- Once completed, a letter is sent out confirming the visit
which includes a list, if necessary, of works required to bring the
premises up to standard.
- The applicant is asked to contact the officer to arrange
a revisit to the premises once remedial works have been
completed.
- Once registered, the business will be inspected on a
routine basis.
The applicant must return the application form to the local
authority office.
What happens next?
The applicant must ensure that the procedures, equipment and
facilities used are safe, hygienic, prevent the spread of disease
and comply fully with the general duty of care required by the
Health and Safety at
Work etc Act 1974.
An inspector may visit to check compliance with requirements.
Your details will be placed on the register and you will be issued
with certification.
Eligibility criteria
There are no powers to refuse registration, but the practice is
controlled through compliance with relevant legislation and in some
cases local byelaws. You will also need to provided details
of any previous convictions.
Right of Appeal
A complete registration will not be refused unless the applicant
has had a previous registration cancelled by the Courts.
