What We Do - Assets and Facilities
All the Council’s property assets are managed centrally by the
Asset & Facilities Department which reinforces the function of
property as a key corporate resource. The Asset &
Facilities Department works in genuine partnership with private
sector contractors and consultants to deliver a comprehensive range
of property-related services to internal clients and service users.
Our “cradle to grave” capacity covers initial planning and
feasibility studies, construction of new buildings and their
subsequent maintenance, all aspects of ongoing estate management
and the eventual disposal of properties that are no longer
required or fit for purpose.
In summary Assets & Facilities
deal with:
- Project design and management
- Process general land enquiries
- Maintenance of council owned property - Plant and Building
Maintenance, Uplift and Refurbishment
- Sale and acquisition of land and property
- Valuation of land and property - valuations are undertaken for
insurance, accountancy and sale/ acquisition evaluation
purposes.
- Strategic estate and asset management - this involves both the
day-to-day management of the Council's land and property assets and
the consideration of the Councils longer-term service
requirements.
- Advice on access to buildings by disabled persons
- Provision of professional property advice for both internal
Council Departments and External Organisations (subject to the
agreement of terms and fees)
- Liaise with developers in respect various redevelopment schemes
associated with Council owned land.
- Site inspections and survey work.
- Process Wayleave/ Easement applications.
- Provide a vacant commercial property search service both
through the office & on the Council’s website.
- Information Management - Maintain details of land and property
owned by the Council.
