Local Air Quality Consultation

This consultation relates to the declaration of six new Air Quality Management Areas in Cheshire East.

The Council has a statutory duty to review Local Air Quality in the Borough, and monitoring undertaken by the Council has in some areas exceeded the national air quality limits. The Council must declare these areas as Air Quality Management Areas, and produce an Action Plan to show the steps that will be taken to improve air quality.

The Council has no option about the decision to declare the Air Quality Management Areas, however it is important to take account of public opinion on the process and actions to be taken.

We would therefore welcome your views and invite you to take part in the consultation using the link below (you do not have to give your name or address to participate unless you wish us to contact you):

The key messages documents below will help answer your questions about general Air Quality.

There are also three drop in events organised where you can come along and speak directly to an officer from the air quality team.

  • Macclesfield event: Broken Cross Club, Broken Cross 2.00pm to 8.00pm. Tuesday 10 January 2017
  • Sandbach event: Sandbach Town Hall Board Room 2.00pm to 7.00pm. Thursday 12 January 2017
  • Middlewich event: Wych Centre, Civic Way 1.30pm – 7.00 pm. Tuesday 17 January 2017

Although these are tailored for the area in which they are held officers will be able to provide information for all sites should individuals not be able to make the specific date for their town.

The links below will take you to some further information about each of the proposed new Air Quality Management Areas.
