Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment
In September 2011 Ofsted Published
'Safeguarding in Schools Best Practice' which is
available to download.
Cheshire East has produced a number of model
documents to assist schools in ensuring that their
safeguarding practices are robust and that appropriate
documentation is in place.
The following documents are currently available.
Safer Recruitment Training
From 1 January 2010 it became mandatory that any
appointments of school staff are made by a recruitment panel that
includes at least one person who has been trained in safer
recruitment. Ofsted will request evidence as part of their
inspections that recruitment panels meet this
requirement.
The training can be completed either on-line or by
attending an accredited face to face training
session.
The next face to face course will take place on Tuesday
28th February at Marlfields School in Congleton.
More details are available in the Spring
Term Training Programme.
Bespoke Safer Recruitment face to face courses
can be arranged for whole Governing Bodies or groups of
governors. Contact School
Governance to find out more.
The Safer Recruitment on-line training
materials can be accessed via the
Children's Workforce Development Council's website. Any
governor wishing to undertake the training will need to create an
account with the Children's Workforce Development Council.
The course materials will then be made available to them.
If governors experience any difficulties creating an account or
accessing the materials they should in the first instance check the
Frequently
Asked Questions section of the website and then, if still
experiencing difficulties, email support@elearning.cwdcouncil.org.uk.
