Academy and Free School Proposals
The Academies Act received Royal Assent on Tuesday 27th July
2010. We've added a new page on Academies and Free Schools which can be
accessed by following the link.
Modern Governor
Modern Governor has released two new e-learning modules: 'Is
Governor Mark for Us?' and 'Self-Evaluation and the New Ofsted

Data Training for Primary School Governors

available for all governors to assist in understanding school data (PDF,
872KB), which can be downloaded by following the link.
The document has been shared with us by the Merseyside Authorities
which developed it, and is clear and easy to understand;
we highly recommend it to you.
Governor Conference
The Cheshire East Governor Conference 2010 will
take place on Friday 19th November 2010 at Cranage
Hall Conference Centre, Holmes Chapel. Our speakers will be
Steve Munby, the Chief Executive of the National College
for Leadership of School and Children's Services,
and Professor Alan Dyson of Manchester
University.
Booking arrangements will be advertised shortly.
The Ofsted Framework
All
the main documentation around the Ofsted framework can be found
by following this link to the Ofsted website. Governors'
attention is particularly drawn to the Evaluation Schedule
Document, which contains the detailed descriptors around
governance on pages 41-43. In addition,
more detailed briefs for inspectors are available here, which
include a brief on inspecting school governance and one on
inspecting safeguarding.
All the key inspection documents, including the
Evaluation Schedule, were republished in April 2010 with some
amendments.

The Autumn Term 2010 Director's Report to School Governing
Bodies will be published on these webpages on Friday 17th September
