New Performance Tables for Schools

The Department for Education has published new performance tables for schools including '400% more data' than has previously been published.  Check out your school's data.

Ofsted Proposal to Remove 'Satisfactory' Rating

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector has announced his intention to scrap 'satisfactory' from the inspection framework and replace it with a new category of 'requires improvement'.  Schools receiving this categorisation would be reinspected within eighteen months and if no progress has been made would be placed in 'Special Measures'.

National College for School Leadership Workshop for Chairs - 20th March

The NCSL will be consulting chairs on its new Chairs' Development programme at an event on Tuesday 20th March 4-8pm at the Renaissance Hotel, Manchester.  Headteachers and Chairs of Governors are invited to attend this free event, and registration is now open.

Ofsted Proposal to Extend No-Notice Inspections

Ofsted will shortly be launching a consultation which includes proposals to extend no-notice inspections to all routine school inspections.

New NGA Publication on RAISE Online in Secondary Schools

Following its recent publication on Primary RAISE Online, the National Governors' Association has now published 'Knowing Your School: Secondary RAISE Online'.  Both documents are available for free download from the NGA Website.

Pupil Premium Extended

The Department for Education has announced that the Pupil Premium will increase to £600 in 2012/13 financial year.  in addition eligibility has been extended to allow schools to claim for any child who has been registered for free school meals in the past six years.  more details are available on the Department for Education Website.

The National College for School Leadership ( NCSL ) has launched a Chairs of Governors’ section of its website, and a booklet to support chairs called ‘Leading Governors’.  For more information, and to download the ‘Leading Governors’ resource follow the link to the Chairs section of the  NCSL website.
