Consulting on Admissions 2011
Cheshire East Council

Consultation on School Admission Arrangements for 2011-2012 and beyond.

In order to ensure arrangements meet the needs of the local area, admission authorities have a duty to consult within their relevant area and with relevant parents and the local community on their draft admission arrangements where a change is being proposed.  Admission arrangements, once determined, must be in compliance with the mandatory provisions of the School Admissions Code. Once determined, objections can be referred to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator where it is considered that arrangements are non-compliant.

Comments on the following proposed arrangements must be sent to the relevant admission authority by 1 March 2010.

Consultation with Relevant Parents, Local Groups, School Governing Bodies, Neighbouring Local Authorities and Diocesan Authorities

Consultation with Schools and Neighbouring Local Authorities

Following changes in admissions legislation, the Local Authority is now consulting with governing bodies and neighbouring local authorities on its proposed coordination scheme , which will apply with effect from September 2010 for 'in year' admissions and for September 2011 for the normal point of entry to school i.e. into the reception class in a primary school and year 7 in a secondary school.

Once agreed, the coordination scheme will apply to all maintained schools. Governing bodies of schools within the relevant area and neighbouring local authorities are invited to submit their commmentsby 1 March 2010.
