Admissions Forum
The School Admissions (Local Authority Reports and Admission
Forums)(England) Regulations 2008 made under Section 85A of the
School Standards and Framework Act (SSFA) 1998, require all local
authorities to establish an admissions forum with the key role of
considering and advising on the fairness of admission arrangements
for schools in the relevant area.
Admission forums are charged with co-ordinating the
effectiveness and equity of local admission arrangements with a
statutory right of objection to these. Forums are responsible for
monitoring compliance with the School Admission Code and have
important powers to publish a report annually on the effectiveness
of local admission arrangments. Forums also have the power to refer
an objection to the Office of the
Schools Adjudicator (OSA) where they consider admission
arrangments to be unfair or not in accordance with the Code.
