Consultation on Admission Arrangements - 2013
In order to ensure arrangements meet the needs of the local
area, admission authorities have a duty to consult within their
relevant area and with relevant parents and the local community on
their proposed changes to admission arrangements,
which include the overall procedure, practices, criteria and
supplementary information to be used in deciding on the allocation
of school places. Admission arrangements, once determined,
must be compliant with the mandatory provisions of the
School Admissions Code.
Following a 12 week consultation period by the Department for
Education on proposals to change admission procedures, revised
Codes and draft regulations have been laid before Parliament in
order to come into force in February 2012 and once determined
will apply to the allocation of places for
September 2013. Further information about these changes is
available on the
Department for Education website.
