Adult Learners' Week 2012

Adult Learners’ Week (ALW) is an annual event that takes place every May. It will be taking place this year from the 12th to the 18th May

Cheshire East Lifelong Learning commission local organisations to offer new and exciting learning opportunities to their communities whilst marketing the learning they deliver outside the event.

Each year hundreds of events are held across the country to celebrate Adult Learners’ Week. There different themes to give you ideas for your activities. National and local events throughout the week include Cultural Diversity Weekend (12 – 13 May), Learning at Work Day (17 May), and Digital Day, which complements Silver Surfers' Day (18^th May).

What events are taking place

Alsager

• Trees Walk & Talk with the Countryside Ranger on Wednesday 16th May at 9.30am.
• Interpreting Local Photographs with Linda Clarke from Cheshire Archives & Local Studies on Thursday 17th May at 10-11.30am. £5.00

Bollington

Card Making on Tuesday 15th May at 10.30am -12 noon and Crystal Healing at 2-3.30pm.
Flower Arranging on Wednesday 16th May at 2.15 - 4pm.

Congleton

During the week there will be drop-in sessions for Holmes Chapel U3A and a new local Arts Group.

Exhibitions from The Romany Society, Alderley History Group, Cheshire Gardens Trust, Wilmslow Community Archaeology and The Wilmslow Historical Society. There will also be a talk by Lisa Greenhalgh, Cheshire Archives and Local Studies, on using Newspapers for Local and Family History at 10.30-11.30am.
