Family Information Service (FIS)
FIS is a free, impartial one-stop-shop service for
parents/carers and young people aged 0–19, providing accurate and
detailed information on services in Cheshire East, regionally
and nationally.
Childcare
- Detailed, up-to-date, accurate, impartial information on
registered childcare. This includes childminders, crèches, day
nurseries, holiday playschemes, nursery schools and classes,
out-of-school clubs and pre-school playgroups.
Activities -
Information on local activity groups and places to go for children,
young people and families.
Helpful
Information - A signposting service to organisations offering
services to children, young people, parents/carers and
professionals who work with them. This includes details of
organisations in Cheshire, regionally and nationally that offer
advice and guidance on specific topics, for example, additional
needs, drugs and alcohol, and family support.
Breaking News!
15/07/10 - The Family Information Service working
closely with the Communications Team were nominated for Best
Strategic Communications Campaign for the Family Information
Service re-launch at the Good Communications Awards 2010
(PDF, 153KB) on Thursday 15th July 2010. Unfortunately
Cheshire East weren't winners this time but were commended for the
work that had gone into the re-launch in helping to raise the
profile of the service whilst it was in its infancy
stages.
25/06/10 - The Department for Education has today published a
list of the
schools that have registered an interest in becoming Academies
- a number of which are in East Cheshire.
23/06/10 - help! 2 is a National Autistic Society (NAS)
programme aiming to provide parents and full-time carers with
information and advice, to support them in the care of their child
with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). They are running local seminars for families in
Wilmslow
15/06/10 - The vetting scheme for nine million people working
with children and vulnerable adults in England, Wales and Northern
Ireland has been halted.
14/06/10 - The UK is lagging behind other European countries by
failing to recognise the role grandparents
