Quality Assurance of Common Assessment Frameworks
Common Assessments are quality assured by the
CAF
team using a tool adopted
by some other North West authorities.
What does this mean for you?
When you send in your first Common Assessment, we will quality
assure it. Of course we will let you know the outcome. If you
need some support then we will either ask your manager to help or
we will offer to help you. If you don’t need support – great – your
CAF's
will not be
regularly checked, maybe just an occasional spot check.
It is good practice for managers and practitioners to quality
assure their
CAFs
. Where this is
already happening in Cheshire East the benefits are being seen in
high quality assessments which will help to improve outcomes for
children and young people.
The Cheshire East
CAF
team quality assure a
sample of Common Assessment Forms received as well as those
submitted by practitioners new to the process. YOu can download the
Quality Assurance checklists for practitioners (PDF,
114KB) and also the
Quality Assureance checklist for their managers (PDF, 114KB) to
support them in undertaking quality assurance on their own
CAF
paperwork.
In March 2010 a
National Quality Framework for the Common Assessment Framework
(CAF) (PDF, 148KB) was introduced by the
DCSF
. A
Cheshire East Quality Assurance Action plan is currently being
written and will soon be available on the website.
