Common Assessment Framework and Lead Professional Training

User Training
This one day session for those working
across services for children and young people will consider the
Common Assessment Framework in the context of early intervention
and prevention, and provide practitioners with an understanding of
the Cheshire East
CAF
procedures and how these
will operate. Following attendance at this multiagency training,
delegates will be able to undertake a Common Assessment and will be
provided with their own copy of the Procedures.
Who should attend?
Anyone working with expectant mothers,
babies, children and young people who need to complete a Common
Assessment as part of their role and who need a more in-depth
understanding of the Common Assessment Framework, the
CAF
form and the use of
Cheshire East procedures.
Lead Professional Training
The Lead Professional helps to create
partnerships involving children, young people and their families
and other professional staff. They will work closely with a child
or young person and their family, acting as a single point of
contact, co-ordinating services and working to improve outcomes
through integrated working. This one day session will explore the
skills required to undertake the role of Lead Professional and will
be a mixture of input and activity in multi-agency groups. The
session will include developing skills in leading and facilitating
multiagency meetings.
Who should attend?
Anyone working with expectant mothers,
babies, children and young people who are already
CAF
users and have attended
CAF
training.
Assessment and Engagement Training for the CAF process
This one day session for those working across services for
children and young people will explore the following topics:
- The importance of assessment being a part of a cycle that leads
to planning, delivery and review
- The principles that underpin effective assessment
- The importance of working in a child and young person centered
way
- The skills and practices of engagement with children, young
people and families to enable effective assessment (including
questioning, listening, summarising and challenging)
- The principles and practices of effective assessment and
engagement and how they should be applied in the context of the
Common Assessment Framework
- Quality assurance of the completed forms, including: Levels of
detail, Use of jargon, Making sure the 'voice’ of the child is
fully reflected
Who should attend?
Anyone working with expectant mothers, babies, children and
young people who may need to complete a Common Assessment as part
of their role, but who may benefit from additional training to
ensure they can assess and engage in a way that leads to high
quality Common Assessment.
This course can be undertaken prior to or after attendance at
CAF User Training.
