Voices Project
The VOICES project has produced a lasting piece of work
based on the memories, hopes and aspirations of several
generations within our footprint of Middlewich and Holmes Chapel
which the communities could enjoy whilst raising awareness of the
Children’s Centre.

To gather materials and ideas for the work a drama consultant
came in to the Adult Day Services Centre here at Salinae to talk to
the service users about their life memories as well as going into
local schools to work with children around their hopes for
the future, what they imagine the world might be like and what jobs
they might like to do.

The finished piece of work, which is now on display in the
reception here at Salinae was officially unveiled by MP Fiona Bruce
at an event held on August 19th 2011. The event was also attended
by Director of Children’s Services, Lorraine Butcher and CE
Councillor Rhoda Bailey as well as the artist, Ash Barrow; members
of our Advisory Board and Nancy and Vera, two of the day service
users who had contributed to the work .
A portrait of Vera features prominently in the finished artwork
and Nancy who will be 100 years old this November shared lots of
stories and family photos which went into the work. After the
official unveiling and a tour of the Children’s Centre and Day
Centre facilities we all joined the rest of the Day service users
for afternoon tea!
We are very proud of the finished artwork and have produced a
book documenting the processes we went through to complete the
project. This is also on display and we would love people to
come in and see the work and leave there comments for us to put in
the book.
