Electoral Review
Cheshire East is a newly created Unitary Council, delivering or
commissioning the full range of Local Authority services in its
area. So that the council fairly reflects and represents the people
it serves an electoral review of Cheshire East Council has been
undertaken by the Boundary Commission. The review defines the key
roles and responsibilities of the Council and how it's constituents
will be represented.

public consultation, leading to the Committee proposing 82
Councillors for Cheshire East, together with boundaries for a total
of 52 Wards each to be represented by between one and three

website.

Order 2011, to implement recommendations made by the Local
Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) for new
boundaries in Cheshire East, as made on 4 January 2011 and
published on 7 January 2011.
The Order makes detailed provisions
for 52 new wards for the area, involving a mixture of 3, 2 and
single member wards, and a total of 82 councillors. (This is
compared to the current arrangements of a council size of 81 and 27
wards).
New wards for Cheshire East have now
successfully completed a 40 day period of Parliamentary scrutiny
and will come into force at the local elections on 5 May 2011.
The Council is now preparing for the
Borough and Parish Elections on 5 May 2011, on the basis of the new
electoral boundaries. A large project is currently being undertaken
within the Electoral Registration Section to make the necessary
changes to the Electoral Registers. The Registers will be published
on 1 March 2011 to enable the Elections to be administered on the
new Wards on 5 May.
