The Vice Lord Lieutenant
The Vice Lord Lieutenant is a senior Deputy Lieutenant appointed by the Lord Lieutenant to stand in for him when absent, sick or otherwise unable to act. The Vice Lord Lieutenant acts with the full authority of the Lord Lieutenant.
The Vice Lord Lieutenant for Cheshire is Viscount Ashbrook JP DL.

The Lord Lieutenant is required to appoint a number of Deputy Lieutenants to assist him in his duties, the maximum number being determined by the population of the county. The maximum number for Cheshire is 56.
