Electoral Services
In a democratic country local councillors and
Members of Parliament both in the United Kingdom and in Europe make
decisions that affect all our lives every day.
The role of the Council’s Electoral Services
Team is to ensure that every eligible resident of Cheshire East
Borough can, if they wish, exercise their right to vote at election
time.
The Electoral Services Team deals with the
administrations of all Parish, Unitary, General and European
elections and Referenda which occur in the Cheshire East
Council area. As part of this it also has the responsibility of
maintaining and updating the Electoral Register and arranging
Postal and Proxy Votes
The Electoral Register is a list of the names
and addresses of everyone who is entitled to vote. By law you must
register every year, even if you do not intend to vote. You are not
automatically registered even if you pay Council Tax.
