Paying Your Council Tax
Council Tax is payable on each property,
whether it is a house, bungalow, flat, maisonette, mobile home or
houseboat, and whether it is owned or rented. Cheshire East
Council offers several different ways to pay your Council
Tax. Contact us if you are having
problems paying your Council Tax.
When to Pay
All Council Tax payers have the right to pay by
ten monthly instalments if the bill is issued before 30th
April. If the bill is issued after this date, the number of
instalments will reduce each month. Cheshire East's payment
date is 1st of the month where payment is not made by direct
debit. If payment is by direct debit, other payment dates are
available. In addition to instalments, annual (full amount
due on 1st April) and half yearly (half due 1st April and half due
1st September) payment options are also available.
Pay by Direct Debit
Over 70% of residents now choose to pay their Council Tax by
Direct Debit for ease and convenience. Direct Debits cost a
fraction of the amount of other payment methods and save the
Council money.
Choose a Payment Date
from 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 22nd or 27th of the month.
- Contact The Council Tax Section with your Bank
Account details and we can set up the Direct Debit
immediately.
Alternatively, you can download a Council Tax Direct Debit Form (PDF,
4MB) to sign and post back to us.
We will send you a bill detailing the payments that will be
taken from your account. View the Direct Debit Guarantee.
