It’s good to YAP
February 8 2012
It’s hoped that a new name will help raise the profile of the
good work that Cheshire East’s Children in Care Council do, and
help them reach out to more young people in care.
The group have decided to call themselves Young Adult
Participation (YAP) and the new title was unveiled at a launch
event in Sandbach.
YAP has 10 members who represent the interests of all cared for
children and care leavers in Cheshire East.
They often give their feedback on Council policies that affect
cared for children, and even form part of interview panels when the
Council is recruiting new members of staff.
Councillor Hilda Gaddum, Cabinet member with responsibility for
children and family services, said: “The Children in Care Council
does some excellent work in Cheshire East and has a real input into
some of our policies and procedures. It has decided on a new name
and I know that a new website is currently being developed so
things are moving forward.
“I am looking forward to seeing what the group can achieve
during 2012.”
