Equality Analysis – Equality Impact Assessments

Equality Impact Assessments help us to place equality and inclusion at the centre of our day-to-day thinking and activities. They help us to understand the likely and actual impact our plans, actions and services could have on different sectors of the community and to target action where it is most needed. They help us to:

  • Identify how services can be made more accessible and appropriate
  • Ensure that different groups are equally served by policy and decisions
  • Identify improvements to services
  • Avoid adopting harmful policies or procedures
  • Make better decisions
  • Become a better employer
  • Demonstrate our public sector equality duty by showing how services and policies do not discriminate against all communities

Equality Impact Assessments help us to put right inequalities, increase public confidence and serve all sections of the community according to their circumstances and needs. We carry out these assessments to ensure we have a positive impact upon on our service users and employees.
