Multi-agency Risk Assessment Conferencing (MARAC) is a monthly
meeting focused on increasing the safety of high risk victims and
their children. Up to date information is shared and a risk
management plan developed.
MARAC
s are now
promoted nationally as a best practice response to domestic
abuse.
Referring to MARAC
High risk victims are identified through use of a shared
Risk Identification Checklist (RIC) (MS Word, 688KB). Anyone
can complete the
RIC
and where high risk is
identified a referral should be made using the form at the end of
the
RIC
.
Where it is not possible to complete the risk assessment, but in
your professional judgement the person is be at high risk of
serious harm you should still refer to
MARAC
.
Information Sharing Protocol
All key agencies in Cheshire East have signed an
ISP
permitting the sharing of
information where risk is high. It is always best to obtain the
consent of the victim to share information but high risk victims
should be referred to
MARAC
with or
without consent. Guidance on information sharing is found in the
combined
High Risk Information Sharing Protocol and
MARAC
Operating
Protocol (PDF, 436KB).
Please contact the Domestic Abuse Family Safety Unit on 01606

email if you have any queries about the
ISP
or need a version with
named
MARAC
reps.
