Age Restricted Product Advice
Consumer Protection and Investigations have responsibility
to enforce laws designed to protect children and young people from
harmful and damaging products such as alcohol, tobacco, fireworks,
solvents and knives.
Consumer Protection and Investigations also carry out test
purchasing exercises using young volunteers to establish whether
retailers are selling to under-age persons.
Did you know that it is an offence to sell the products listed
below to a child or young person who is under the age stated?

Consumer Protection and Investigations advise and support
businesses to help them understand the legislation relating to age
restricted products.
If you know or suspect a shop is
making illegal under-age sales you can report your suspicions to
Consumer Protection and Investigations. Consumer Protection and
Investigations can then take appropriate steps to prevent such
sales.
