Macclesfield Economic Masterplan
In February 2010, we appointed a team of consultants led by CB
Richard Ellis to help us to develop an Economic Masterplan for
Macclesfield. The Economic Masterplan provides an exciting new
vision for development and regeneration in Macclesfield and is
aimed at improving the economy, the environment and the facilities
in the town.
The overall purpose of this work was to:
- Review current development interest in the town to help inform
future planning policies (click link here to access Planning Policy Pages Local Development
Framework).
- Produce Action Plans to guide the future development and to
ensure that the benefits of any development are maximised for the
Town.

As you may be aware, the Masterplan has undergone widespread
Public Consultation and we would like to thank everyone who took
the time to comment on the draft documents. All of your views
and representations were considered and inputted to inform the
final Masterplan Document. A copy of the Consultation
Report (PDF, 2.25MB) can be downloaded here. The
consultation responses received from the Options Appraisal are
provided in the main Economic Masterplan Action Plan documents.
The final Economic Masterplan is separated into two Action
Plans. The first relates to proposals and improvements for
Macclesfield Town Centre and the second relates to the development
opportunities in the South Macclesfield Development Area.
Both documents were approved by our Cabinet on 20th December
2010. You can download the report and minutes from the
Cabinet Meeting here.
